The T.S. Eliot Look

T.S. Eliot was one of the 20th century’s major poets, and he had some great quotes, some of which I have been admiring lately. It turns out he had some nice looking eyewear as well. I love the look he is wearing in the picture above. Round plastic frames were certainly quite popular during his time in the early to mid-twentieth century, but this shape is quite unique and quite striking. The shape is round on the bottom, but very flat on the top.
Eliot was born in America, but he moved to England in 1914 where he got married and made a life for himself. So when I went looking for frame styles that pay tribute to what I am calling the T.S. Eliot look, it made sense that I would find one from English designer Tom Davies.
The Tom Davies model 46627 from the Mayfair collection is quite similar with two noticeable differences. The Tom Davies frame features a keyhole bridge, and titanium temples, which make the frame quite comfortable as it sits on the bridge of the nose and rests lightly behind the ears.
This is the kind of frame that makes we want to write poetry, but alas I will leave that to the pros.
